OCATT/ CIT Training Program

Prevention Network offers the Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) training program for individuals seeking a career in the addictions field.  These courses are designed to provide students with the educational hours required to receive the New York State CASAC-In-Training (CIT) certificate.  The program offers a two-year, part-time schedule that meets all New York State contact hour requirements. January and September are our two-convenient open-enrollment periods for interested candidates.

The annual cost is $1,700.00 per year.  The full tuition cost for this 2-year, 350-hour New York State approved Credentialed Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor-in-Training (CASAC-T) is a manageable $3,400.00.  Prevention Network students are eligible for NYS Department of Labor (including ACCESS OVR) payment.  Additionally Prevention Network offers several reasonable self-pay options for students.  Students attend classes an average of 3-4 days monthly.  Many of our students attend classes while maintaining full and/or part-time employment.  Sessions are held in a friendly and supportive learning environment, convenient to a major bus line.

Our sessions are lead by local experts in their topic areas who care about the profession and sharing their knowledge with students.  Students participate in lively, challenging and engaging discussions to build skills and s-t-r-e-t-c-h beyond commonly held alcohol and other drug biases, fears, attitudes and resistance that hinder effective culturally competent service delivery.  Student’s s gain new depths of professional knowledge and skills in every session.  Students are also scheduled for mandatory professional development sessions with an Alcohol and Other Drug qualified health professional to develop and enhance advocacy and assessment skills necessary for optimal use of clinical supervision.  Students participate in annual review their action plan status to support completion goals.
